Interesting bits about Labradorite ...

Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family. The Feldspar group of Minerals is a large group within the Silicate Minerals family, the largest group of Minerals in the world.. The chemical makeup of these Gems that categorises them as Feldspar.

First discovered in the late 1700's..It is a calcium-enriched feldspar mineral first identified in Labrador, Canada, which can display an iridescent effect (*schiller).

There are many layers to Labradorite..The colour of the flash or Labradorescence is determined by the thickness of the layers in which Labradorite can present a range of colours, including the following:

Gold
Blue
Purple
Orange
Green

The colors in Labradorite are not actually present in stone, rather they are the result of light play within the stone. Labradorite is a feldspar with a crystalline structure that forms very thin compacted layers. When light hits the surface of the stone, it travels down through the layers, which reflect, refract and diffuse the white light, absorbing some colors and reflecting others which we see as the flash on the surface of the stone.

Labradorescence is the optical effect/phenomena belonging to only to Labradorite!

what an honor to have something so incredible in your home and life!

Mother Earth knows how to wow us for sure..

Each tumbled stone will be hand selected for you and will come with a healing properties card.

*Schiller-Schiller (German, literally "shimmer"), is the metallic iridescence originating from below the surface of a stone that occurs when light is reflected between layers of minerals. It is seen in moonstone and labradorite and is very similar to adularescence and aventurescence.
